I have lived a wonderful life, and I truly believe the best is yet to come. Here are a few lessons I have learnt along my way.
1. Consciously start each day in a good vibration. Start your day by giving gratitude for what you are grateful for in life. This is really a powerful way to being each day and ensure you face each day with a smile and a great attitude.
2. Who you hang with matters. Decide carefully who to spend your time with. Toxic people steal your joy. Spend time with people who make you happy, who are fun to be around and who have good values. Think about the people who make you feel good and spend more time with them.
3. Everything that happens to you in life is for your growth. Don’t blame others for your circumstances, create your reality. Everyone goes through difficult times in life. Overcome your challenges and learn from them. They will truly make you a stronger, more resilient, more relatable, a better person, friend, leader, and help you develop your greatness. Let struggles go, do not hold onto resentment. Be free of pain.
4. Spend time with those you love and make time for them. Make sure you are fully present when you are with loved ones and give them your undivided attention. Have a date night once a week, make time for activities with your kids and regularly meet up with your friends. Talk and really listen to what they say. This is true quality time. Cherish it.
5. Work smart. There is a difference between being busy and being productive. Do quality work, rather than busy work. Think about how you use your time. Are you always available to attend every meeting? Are you trying to do too much and not doing anything particularly well? Invest in simplicity, chose what you are good at, and be the best at it. Give it your focused attention and continue to grow in the area you are passionate about. And say yes to opportunities.
6. Real leadership is about leading not following the crowd. Run your own race, trust your instinct, be authentic, be you! It doesn’t matter what others are doing, it only maters what you are doing and how far you have come.
7. Be nice, manners cost nothing. Nice people win! To be successful you should be polite, sincere, caring, and loving. This is the winning combination. If you take care of relationships the rest takes care of itself. Be helpful and deliver extreme value for what you offer. This will develop brands and create fans for your brand. It is an amazing business strategy.
8. Leave everyone you meet with the feeling of increase. Give compliments, be helpful, and share your knowledge. By coming from a place of generosity and love, you will attract abundance into your life.
9. Being a day dreamer is good. I was always a bit of a day dreamer, living in the future and dreaming about what my life could be. I didn’t realise until much later in life that day dreaming is actually good! Daydreaming is similar to practicing visualisation, which is a powerful tool, used to assist with goal achieving.
10.You get rewarded in life for what you do, not for what you know. My favourite quote is from Maya Angelou which states ‘People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will not forget how you made them feel.’
Smile and give to others, give your time, your words, your generosity, and your love. It’s the free things in life which make the greatest impact.
